Course Overview

The FAW C Certificate is designed for coaches who have completed the FAW Football Leaders Award or Introduction to Football Coaching Certificate and want to further improve their coaching knowledge and skills when supporting players within a practice environment.

This modern coaching course consists of:

  • Online modules
  • Distance learning
  • Webinars (utilizing Microsoft Teams)
  • Practical in-person sessions
  • Coaching within your own environment

Each candidate will be assigned a designated mentor to support their individual journey throughout the FAW C Certificate. The mentor will assist in all aspects of the course, including:

  • Relating theoretical information to practical application
  • Challenging coaches to think creatively
  • Supporting coaches in adapting their methods to suit their players’ age and ability levels

  • Webinar 1: Sunday, April 20th, 2025
  • Webinar 2: Sunday, April 27th, 2025
  • Webinar 3: Sunday, May 4th, 2025
  • Webinar 4: Sunday, May 11th, 2025
  • Webinar 5: Sunday, May 18th, 2025

All online webinars will take place on the Microsoft Teams platform

Practical Days

May 23rd – 25th, 2025 – Philadelphia

Course Content

During the course, coaches will learn about:

  1. Key requirements for supporting individuals in modern football
  2. Developing players across four pillars:
    • Technical
    • Physical
    • Psychological
    • Social
  3. Planning, preparing, and reflecting on coaching sessions
  4. Utilizing tools to support both coaches and players

There is no formal assessment for this course.

Outcomes

The FAW C Certificate is the level 2 qualification in Wales. It is designed to:

  • Support the growth of youth coaches working in grassroots and academy football
  • Extend the knowledge of senior coaches working in the game
  • Provide coaches with a deeper understanding of the requirements and responsibilities of a modern coach
  • Serve as a prerequisite for accessing the FAW/UEFA B Licence
